'Wind Beneath My Wings'

Word & music by Larry Henley &  Jeff Silbar

It must have been cold there in my shadow
to never have sunlight on your face.
You've always been content to let me shine.
You've always walked one step behind.

I was the one with all the glory,
while you were the one with all the strength,
only a face without a name,
and I never once heard you complain.

Did you ever no that you're my hero
and everything that I'd like to be.
I can fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the Wind beneath my Wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed
but I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth
I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're my hero
and everything that I'd like to be.
I can fly higher than an eagle,
'cause you are the Wind beneath my Wings.

These Pages are dedicated to My BridgeAngel Echo {Candlochen's Echo At Dawn}, who from birth to her sudden Journey to Rainbow Bridge {at a young, 6 years of age}, and beyond remains forever my Guardian Angel and heartdog.

I guess it's time I began to write to you, so I can begin to let you go, tho this is the hardest thing I have ever tried to write. I love you so much, I hardly know where that love came from. I only know it started the day you were born, and lasts beyond your lifetime, which was ultimately much too short, just six and a half years.

I must stop now, for I cannot see thru my tears.

Your mother, Megan, was my first show dog, whom I purchased from Carol Haight at ten weeks of age. She was so beautiful, and I was so dumb. She taught me so much about love, and about showing, and tho she didn't really enjoy showing, she let me work with her to learn. Then when she had her first litter we discovered that she had a serious problem delivering babies, and would require C-sections each litter.

You, my beloved Echo came from her second litter, the smallest and the darkest. You were also the sickest with a severe case of pneumonia. With 24 hour care and respiratory treatments, you survived to become the light of my life. Born June 11, 1989, that summer turned hot, and I laughed at your fat little belly over the ice pack, because you were so warm. I think that our special friendship began that day.

and share the love that only a 'BridgeAngel' can convey.

You loved to be near me, and lay at my feet wherever I was, whatever I was doing. Secretly, I think, it was because you thought you might get a treat! Altho you enjoyed being outside and running with your mom and dad, sisters, and later your own kids, your favorite spot was on my lap, or as near to me as you could get: in the car on my lap, in bed, against my back, or on my chest just under my chin.

You loved to show and would have made a great little show dog, but your head just did not have the conformation the judges were looking for. You always baited like a dream, moved around the ring like a pro, and all, in all, just loved being the center of attention. Nevertheless, your life was not to be in the show ring, but producing those off-spring who would be in the ring. Your first attempt produced a male (who took reserve his first time in the ring), and a female who was shown and won a few ribbons. However, like her grandmother Megan, her VwD score was lower than yours, and I could not justify using her in my program, for showing, or breeding. Then came Tiara, who, bless your heart is clear of VWD! She, however like Megan does not particularly enjoy showing, tho several judges have expressed their approval of her.

Now, the baby boy, your legacy and Bridgegift is almost eight months old, and growing so much like you every day. His name is Candlochn One Shining Moment O Echo, I call him 'Starphire'. He is definitely a house dog, like you and wants to be touching me all the time. He loves to show, like you did, and I can hardly wait to get him into the ring. He is going to be a big boy, He's almost 16 inches already, I pray that he will not grow any taller.

He has learned your trick of taking my wrist in his mouth and many of your little idiosyncrasies. He loves to sit in my lap in the car, and jump into my lap when I'm working on the computer. Thank you for leaving him with me, since you had to go.

Now, I want to talk to you about all you gave to me when you were here. You taught me about unconditional love, You taught me that winning wasn't everything, and that having a one-on-one relationship with a devoted little dog was the most precious thing. You never once showed any negative emotion, except when I had to leave and could not take you with me. Typical of shelties, you hated to be left alone.

When Megan gave the Matriarchy to you, you accepted it so gracefully, and with such finesse, just like you knew it was your destiny. You were always there to keep the others in line and to make sure everyone was doing exactly what they were supposed to be. Now we have trouble, cause nobody knows what dish they are supposed to eat out of, or who should go in or out the door first. I wish you could tell me how to fix this, now that I have no Matriarch.

You were always such a delight to have with me at shows, even when I wasn't showing you. You were always so trustworthy that I could leave you loose with no fear that you would take off. You seemed to calm Tiara down before I took her in the ring, You probably know that she didn't have any puppies in April, and I suspect that my guardian angel felt that a litter of puppies would be more than I could handle then, but now she is being bred to Bently (a Reggie son out of a Jason daughter), and I pick her up on September 3, and puppies should be due the last of October. Pray with me, that everything goes well, and that there are some puppies worthy to be your grandchildren (I'm so sorry you'll never see them here, but please do watch over them from where you are).

I miss you more than words can say, and now have a guardian angel locket with your picture in it. The tears are coming again, I must stop.

Good-bye, my friend, tho it is only until I see you running towards me at the Rainbow Bridge, and we cross together, never to be apart again!!!!

I love you so!!!

Wow! How special, thanx, Samantha!

How special, thanx, Shane, for this unexpected award!

If you were once connected with someone,
does it make sense that the connection is broken
just because of a physical death?  No, the connection stays.
You may just have to listen differently.
You may just have to talk differently.
The truth is:   the connection is never broken.
It's quite impossible to break the most powerful connection in the universe.
As long as you exist, the connection stays.
